We’re delighted to have helped with the £3.3bn acquisition of Britvic by Carlsberg.
The Danish brewer said it would create a single beverage company called Carlsberg Britvic to grow its business in the UK and western Europe. Britvic makes drinks including Robinsons’ squash and J20. The deal comes as drinkers in some markets swap beer for spirits or cut back on drinking altogether and will help Carlsberg to grow its presence beyond beer. It will also combine two major bottlers of PepsiCo’s soft drinks.
Britvic’s Chair Ian Durant said the merits of Carlsberg's takeover offer were "compelling", adding that the takeover by Carlsberg would create "an enlarged international group that is well-placed to capture the growth opportunities in multiple drinks sectors". The deal will see existing Britvic investors receive £13.15 a share, after a previous lower offer was rejected last month.
Our thanks to our wonderful clients at Linklaters, which acted for Britvic, alongside Baker McKenzie who advised Carlsberg.
